The environment of De Cocksdorp has a lot to offer for people who like the outdoors. In the neighbourhood are nature conservations like 'De Schorren', 'De Slufter', 'De Muy' and 'De Eyerlandse Duinen'. There is a lot of scenery to enjoy and therefore many people come to Texel to spot birds or to just walk in the country. There is nothing as good to relax as a fine walk on the beach on a windy day!

Around De Cocksdorp one can find excellent fishing possibilities. In the North or Waddensea you can easily fish from the shore, and there are some freshwater fishing-spots as well.

In De Cocksdorp is the only golf court "De Texelse" located. This 9-hole court is one of the most natural courts in Holland. It lies amidst some dunes. The Northsea beach is only 3 km away, and the Waddensea coast is to be found at the end of our street. On the island Texel about 120 km of bicycle paths are present, which makes the bike an excellent way to explore the island.

Of course, Texel can be discovered by car; it is (unlike other Dutch islands) no problem at all to access Texel by car.
